Success Story

Lenore used her EARN savings to buy her son a computer for his schoolwork. Now, instead of having to stay in at lunchtime to do his homework in a hurry on the classroom computer, he is an honor-roll student and he is on his way to college.

That's the dream of Lenore's life - that things will be better for her children than they were for her. She was raised by her grandmother here in the Bayview - and her grandmother later ended up raising Lenore's sons for awhile too, while Lenore was getting her life back on track after a long battle with addiction. She's been clean and sober since August 2002. Then in August 2008, she gave up smoking, so she could save her cigarette money for Nathaniel's computer. And she's not stopping. Now that they've gotten the computer with EARN's help, Lenore is still saving on her own.
