La Tanya Wiggins: EARN Success Story

At EARN, we often talk about “economic redemption” when we describe the impact of our work. For many low-income families, EARN is an opportunity to make a break from their financial past and create a more solid financial future. In short, it’s a second chance. For La Tanya Wiggins, an EARN Saver, the phrase “second chance” hardly seems strong enough. And “amazing” isn’t strong enough for what she achieved with that chance.

After years of drug addiction, La Tanya got clean and sober for her children. She and her husband struggled to build a better future for their family, but when he got laid off, they almost lost everything – even the kids’ dreams of college“EARN saved us,” she says. “EARN taught us to make the most of our money… and the kids learned to save, too.” Today, La Tanya is a business owner and homeowner, and her son is in college. Watch La Tanya’s story above, and feel free to share your “second chance” moment with us at stories@earn.org.
