You Are Cordially Invited to Say Yes on May 20th
What if I told you that I could make you say yes to anything?
Okay, maybe not anything. But how about I guarantee that you’ll want to say yes on Friday, May 20th, 2011?
Yes. It’s that time of year again, when we at EARN publicly celebrate the accomplishments of our Savers. We hold a special luncheon at the Four Seasons called the Asset Awards, giving us – EARN staff, supporters, volunteers, and donors – a special opportunity to hear firsthand the story of a hard-working Saver who has overcome all odds to achieve prosperity for his or her family.
The Asset Awards luncheon is our Saver’s opportunity to tell the EARN world about how they’ve struggled, journeyed, and ultimately succeeded in achieving dreams for their family. Without fail each year, our featured Saver has brought the entire crowd to tears (in a good way!).
This will be my fourth Asset Awards with EARN, and I look forward to each year’s festivities even more than I did the year before. Not only has our staff grown tremendously, but so has our group of supporters and sponsors, who sell this event out year after year and continue to cheer on our Savers.
In addition, our Savers themselves stun us with their stories of hardship and triumph and inspire everyone in the room, including fellow Savers, to continue saving, supporting programs like EARN, and believing in their dreams.
At this year’s Awards, we will honor and celebrate the achievement of our star Saver, Julia Orellana, a single mother who persevered against sharp odds and a difficult upbringing to raise two wonderful and driven teenage daughters and has dedicated her life to putting them on the path to college. I’d tell you more, but don’t want to reveal the rest of her story!
I hope I’ve made a compelling enough case to convince you to say yes to our invitation to the Asset Awards. I invite you to connect with us – whether that’s in-person at the event or on Facebook – as we celebrate Julia’s journey and support EARN Savers like her who dream of creating better, more prosperous lives for their families and communities.
So the next time you check your calendar, make sure to star May 20th as the day you’re saying yes. Yes to Julia and her daughters, Lluvia and Brysa. Yes to dreams. And yes to a better future for her – and our – children.
