Jamie Moore, New Homeowner
Jamie Moore is no stranger to bad news. Her path has not been an easy one.
She was motivated to buy a home because her family had been living in a rental -- until the owner died, and the new owner didn't want to rent it out anymore.
Jamie took that bad news and turned it into one of the biggest achievements of her life: becoming the first homeowner in her family. Then came more bad news. Thieves broke in and gutted the place, taking everything from appliances to the pipes in the walls.
So Jamie has had to bootstrap the renovation of her home. Her uncle is her contractor. It has taken months of hard work by family and friends - even her 2-year-old pitched in!
Despite the repairs and construction going on all around them, Jamie's family celebrated Thanksgiving 2008 together in the new home. And they found plenty to be thankful for -- not least of which is the bright future ahead of them in their new home.
